Dr. Niteesh Kumar Upadhyay, Associate Professor of Law at the Dhirubhai Ambani University – School of Law, recently completed a series of significant academic and professional engagements in Uzbekistan, strengthening the University’s growing international footprint at the intersection of legal research, arbitration, and technology governance.
Dr. Upadhyay successfully completed the prestigious Central Asian Legal Research Fellowship at the Tashkent State University of Law, where he delivered lectures on Avoidance of Plagiarism & Formulation of Research Problems (Problem Statement) and Trans-disciplinary Legal Research. He also presented research papers and contributed to scholarly publications as part of the fellowship activities. His participation in the Central Asian Legal Research Forum 2025 further broadened collaboration with international scholars and expanded avenues for cross-border research.
In addition to the fellowship, Dr. Upadhyay represented the University at the 5th Uzbek Arbitration Week (UzAW) held from 23–26 September 2025 in Tashkent. Organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Tashkent International Arbitration Centre (TIAC), UzAW has emerged as a major platform for dialogue on international arbitration, especially following the region’s adoption of the UNCITRAL Model Law. The event included the flagship conference, English Law Day, satellite sessions, and the TIAC Nikonov International Tech Moot, attracting practitioners and scholars from across the world. His participation underscored the University’s ongoing commitment to global arbitration discourse and the development of future-ready arbitration professionals.
Dr. Upadhyay also delivered a distinguished lecture at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights. His talk examined how emerging technologies—including AI and facial recognition—are reshaping privacy, equality, and security. He highlighted key concerns around algorithmic bias, data protection, cyber-terrorism, and racial discrimination, calling for policies that keep human dignity and rights at the forefront of technological adoption. The lecture prompted a vibrant exchange with diplomats, academics, and students on the challenges of governing AI responsibly.
Taken together, these engagements reflect a period of meaningful international collaboration and academic outreach, strengthening the presence of the Dhirubhai Ambani University – School of Law in global conversations on research integrity, dispute resolution, and the governance of emerging technologies.
