The School of Law, Dhirubhai Ambani University is pleased to announce that Dr. Niteesh Kumar Upadhyay, Associate Professor of Law, has served as Guest Editor for a Special Issue of the BRICS Law Journal (Volume 12, Issue 3, 2025), a leading international journal dedicated to advancing legal scholarship across BRICS nations. The Special Issue is indexed in Scopus (Q2) and reflects nearly a year of rigorous academic collaboration among scholars from India, Russia, and other BRICS jurisdictions.

In his Guest Editor’s Note titled “Beyond Borders: India–Russia Engagements in Innovation, Learning, and Commerce,” Dr. Upadhyay examines the evolving legal, economic, technological, and strategic dimensions of Indo-Russian cooperation within the broader BRICS framework. The Note situates bilateral engagements in areas such as trade corridors, defence and maritime cooperation, digital economy, artificial intelligence, education, and research collaboration, while underscoring the need for robust legal frameworks to navigate emerging global and regional challenges.

The Special Issue brings together diverse and interdisciplinary perspectives on contemporary legal issues, including artificial intelligence, health law and reproductive rights, biomedical waste governance, corporate social responsibility, smart cities, state sovereignty, victim compensation, and sustainable development goals. Collectively, the contributions highlight the growing importance of cross-national and comparative legal research and the role of Indo-Russian academic engagement in shaping legal responses to complex societal and technological transformations.

The School of Law takes pride in Dr. Upadhyay’s contribution to global legal academia and his leadership in fostering international scholarly dialogue through this Special Issue of the BRICS Law Journal.
