On 22 August 2025, Dr. Niteesh Kumar Upadhyay, Associate Professor of Law at the School of Law – Dhirubhai Ambani University and Research Advisor at South Ural State University (SUSU), delivered an invited lecture on “Artificial Intelligence and the Law” at the Pridi Banomyong Faculty of Law, Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU), Thailand.
Addressing an audience of faculty members, researchers, and law students, Dr. Upadhyay examined the rapidly expanding influence of AI across legal systems worldwide. He outlined AI’s potential to enhance access to justice, improve the efficiency of legal services, and assist in sophisticated research and predictive analysis. At the same time, he underscored the emerging risks associated with algorithmic bias, opaque decision-making, data privacy, misuse of personal information, and the broader implications for human dignity and constitutional rights.
Dr. Upadhyay stressed the importance of creating legal frameworks that strike a careful balance—allowing societies to harness the benefits of AI while ensuring that fundamental principles of fairness, accountability, and transparency remain central. He also discussed comparative developments in AI regulation, drawing parallels between Asia, Europe, and India’s evolving policy landscape.
The session generated meaningful engagement, with participants exploring questions on AI ethics, judicial adoption of technology, and the responsibilities of future lawyers in a technologically transformed legal environment. The lecture contributed to a growing international conversation on how legal education and policymaking must adapt to address the challenges and opportunities of the AI era.
